Salutations. I'm trying use gradient tool as if it were an eraser? Is this possible?

  1. Enter quick mask mode (Q).
  2. Mask the area you want to delete using the gradient tool
  3. Switch out of quick mask mode; the area where the gradient was drawn will be selected
  4. Hit the delete key
